The gasket kit business is holding its own. Hope all of you
are seeing enough business to say the same. Nothing works
better than a recession to teach business people how to
run lean.
We find ways to purchase better components at better prices.
We have time to listen to customer feed back. This outlines
new products, better packaging, and helps us to focus our
advertising.
No one likes economic downturns, and employers that have to
lay off employees or cut hours head the list. I admit that
being a two-person operation is a blessing for me during
these tough times. Because there is no payroll overhead
that can be cut, I need to look long and hard at inventory
levels and other costs.
One of the cost cutting measures that I was able to implement
is with CJ's credit card processing. I was able to find a
rate that is much lower than what I had been paying. Now
each sale will net a bit more than before. The next measure
may be the scanning of customer invoicing and sending via
e-mail instead of paying $.44 for each invoice to be mailed.
I would be interested in hearing about other lean techniques
that have worked for you and your business. After all, we are
all in this for the long run. Anything that we can do to
help each other is a plus.

Managing To Survive These Economic Times
How are you managing to survive these economic times? At CJ Marketing we have seen a general down turn in both inquiries and sales. Our country is definitely hurting.
On a brighter note, we have seen an increase in business from outside of the US. Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa are using the internet to find the best sources for their needs. We welcome these inquiries, and have been pleased to ship many orders overseas.
It is easier than ever to create export documents. Credit cards make the exchange of funds simple. Language barriers are easier to deal with through emails than by phone.
Is your business leaving possible sales untapped because you think it is"too hard" to export? My advice is to try one or two transactions. Use the same good business practices that you would use with your current customers. It is not necessary to make special policies for export orders. I am wagering that you will find that it was just as simple and just as profitable as any other sale.
On the same note, what other sales are you passing up? Think about sales to municipalities, colleges or universities, and government agencies. Many of the bulky formats that were once in use have been abandoned by these entities. Even the defense department has begun to use credit cards to purchase needed items with little paperwork.
Look over your advertising. Look over your website. Make certain that it is friendly to all that are in need of your product line. And when you get an email or a phone call from a non-customer, treat them the way you would like to be treated. You may be pleasantly surprised at the results.
I will be attending a local Tea Party in September. Payton will be staying home, but my wife is eager to let her congressmen know how unhappy she is with their recent votes.
I am sure that I am already on someone's watch list based on my gun ownership, internet browsing, and the emails I send to my representatives. But it is important to me to be counted as one of the millions of Americans that are shouting, "Stop messing with my country!" I love my country, but I am not happy with the direction we are heading. It is time to pull back from the socialist bent and go back to operating as a republic.

Hi Folks,
It seems that some lovely lady in my life decided that putting together gasket and seal kits was not challenging enough for me. So she suggested we visit the local dog pound to get me a 24/7 project. It took 3 different dog pounds, but the "perfect" dog came home with us a few months ago.
He was everything we thought we wanted. Big, powerful, energetic....and we named him Payton. The vet agreed that we had chosen well. Payton is in good overall health. And he is smart. Sometimes too smart. Like the way that he faked me out when I unchained him and thought he was going to go meekly into the house like he usually does. That lead to a 3-hour chase around the neighborhood.
Then there was the time in the middle of winter that he broke his chain and lit out after a deer. That resulted in him crossing an icy pond only to fall through the ice. I learned that I can run REALLY fast when necessary. And I learned that a hair dryer and warm towels can work wonders with a cold and soggy dog.
So if you should order a gasket and seal kit for your transmission, and see a few stray black dog hairs in the box, you will know that Payton was keeping watch. I consider it quality control. The cats were just not enthusiastic enough to stay around through the process of "kitting" but the dog thinks that it is part of his job to keep an eye on things.
Remember, Payton is a large dog. He needs a lot of dog food. So keep those gasket kit orders coming. He will appreciate your business.

Save Time and Money by Buying the Right Gasket Kit from CJ Aftermarket
With the new year beginning, it is time to look at ways to save money and save time.
Our economy is not so robust that any of us can waste valuable dollars. This means dollars that pay an hourly rate. This means dollars that pay for products. This means dollars wasted on ordering the wrong thing from the wrong vendor.
When you need a gasket kit for a Clark or a Borg Warner or a Funk transmission, call CJ Aftermarket. You will save time because we have the gasket kit you need in our stock. You will save headaches because CJ Aftermarket gasket kits include the components you need, but not the bolts and washers that you do not need, nor do you want to pay for.
Once you have made it a point to rethink your time and your ordering habits, let that new awareness seep into all phases of your life. Do you really need to pick up those extras at the store? Do you make three stops on the way home from work instead of consolidating some of your errands? Use your "work smart" technique on all you do.
You will find that you can save money, you can save time, and you can save energy simply by planning, researching, or changing habits.
And we all can use a few extra dollars. And we can all use a few extra moments.
Use them wisely.
